Abstract: The aim of this work is the translation from English into Maltese of three chapters from the contemporary novel The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis, and the analysis of the new terminology created to accommodate in Maltese the author's invented English terms. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is the first in the series of seven books about the fantasy world of Narnia. The imagination with which the author invented the names of creatures, places and objects, and the adventures that the protagonists experience together with the careful choice of words make it a breath-taking story. The book which is a children's classic can be read simply for its beauty and adventures, however, reading it carefully and analysing the author's choices and intentions and the amount of invented words present, made it an intriguing and challenging task to translate.
