Crucial scientific evidence supports the theory that good nutrition and a healthy lifestyle help prevent degenerative diseases such as cancer. Many books written on the subject, such as Dr. Servan-Schreiber's 'Anti-cancer : a new way of life', are very informative and eye-opening. They look at the mechanisms of such diseases and explain them in a way that a layman can understand, also using helpful charts, tables, and illustrations that clarify the sometimes technical information about the latest research on their genesis and progression. A Maltese version of a book, backed by science and research would give the Maltese individual, knowledge and power by making the information accessible to him or her in an age where those who feel most comfortable with Maltese have not much of a choice with regards to books on complex and controversial subjects such as cancer, for example. This Maltese translation is an attempt to achieve a practical, down-to-earth, easy-to-follow guide for minimising one's chances of developing degenerative diseases, or giving oneself the best chance at recovery and survival if such diseases do develop. 'Anti-cancer : a new way of life' does contains erudite terms which may be recondite and abstruse to the masses, (words such as apoptosi and fitoestrogeni), these terms are usually elucidated by the author.en_GB
