Abstract: Learning Support Educators (LSEs) face a difficult situation when it comes to choosing the right technique and methodology to use for children with speech sound disorder. Apps that are being developed nowadays do not target specific skills or children, the need for the creation of more applications that could be used directly for speech disorders, fluency disorders and hearing impairment has been felt. The research being developed aims to identify the benefits of game-based learning as a tool for LSEs and how speech sound disorders can be treated using technology such as mobiles and tablets. The research will determine if the current speech recognition technology found in most phones could be used as a tool to help children with speech sound disorder. This work will see the development of an arcade game which will incorporate the different treatment techniques in speech sound disorders and will also compliment the research at hand. It is important to note that the game being developed does not apply to every type of speech sound disorder and it is advised to be used under the instruction of an LSE.
