Abstract: From a low cost flooring solution developed by Venetian workers, to a multi-purpose material with a variety of applications and variations; Terrazzo has undergone radical changes both in its use and manufacture. As the potential of Terrazzo got more recognition, its use mutated from a structural solution for horizontal surfaces, to a solution for the ever increasing vertical surfaces of modern buildings. As the construction industry hungered tor higher and higher buildings, the once heavy and structural, element of stone, took on a lighter, more decorative purpose, and was transformed Into a skin to be clad onto the modern steel structures.
