| Abstract: | The purpose of the present work is twofold: the first is an analysis of information assembled circa string culture in Malta over the last hundred years or so. This establishes to what extent and in what aspects of string culture one can talk of a decline and resurgence of standards. Socio-cultural and political factors are essential aspects of this analysis but technical considerations have not been lost sight of throughout the work. Several conclusions with reference to this first purpose are drawn in situ. The overall trends are summarised in chapter 4. |
