Abstract: Technology is changing the manner in which goods and services are sold. The developments taking place have created opportunities for business previously unavailable. As new and innovative suppliers set up on the Internet they are challenging traditional institutions in areas they comfortably dominated for decades. This thesis explores the manner in which change is taking place and analyses the reaction from the established financial institutions in Malta. It also evaluates the opportunities that changes in technology are presenting to Maltese banks as their market expands beyond the physical limitations of Malta's geographical and demographical limits.
