dc.description.abstract | This paper maintains that MENA governments must adopt secular, democratic governments in order to satisfy modem human rights norms, which could/should be established through a democratization process that concentrates on stability and international security. The greater part of the thesis is divided this way into two main components. The first validates the thesis through a critical review of Islamic literature and doctrinal sources for law in a theocratic state. This section is punctuated by the ultimate assertion that political discourse and protection of human rights are fundamentally restricted, demonstrating the inappropriate role of religion in governing. The thesis simultaneously maintains that suitable alternative that is capable of coping with modern universal norms is secular democracy. The latter parts of the paper propose that MENA needs to protect regime stability and international security for the democratization process to unfold properly. It is argued that ignoring these two features in the post-9/11 era will certainly lead to catastrophe and failure. The validation of this idea is outlined in a bilateral framework between Egypt and Italy concentrated on understanding extremist opposition strategies to disturb a sound process. The conclusion suggests that if these major barriers of stability and security can be protected then democratization and secularization can increase the level of human rights protection to its fullest in Egypt | en_GB |
