Abstract: This thesis will examine the ongoing eurozone crisis and will thus deal with both economic and political matters. It seeks to understand what led to the crisis, what economic measures are required to solve the crisis and what political steps have to be taken in order to implement these measures. These three questions will be address in three separate sections. In short, this thesis tries to understand whether deeper economic integration is the solution to the eurozone crisis and whether this deeper integration might end up creating a two-speed Europe. Each European crisis presents a two-fold aspect: "On the one hand it makes the break-up of the results already achieved possible. On the other hand, each crisis makes new headway possible for a greater integration within the Union". Various economic and political proposals will be examined in an attempt to find the optimum solutions and perhaps even combine the proposals. The options available are looked at from the light of the current economic and political climate.
