Abstract: Topology took an interesting turn with the development in thought that led to the birth of a new branch in set-point theory known as Selection Theory. This new field was initiated by Ernest Michael, a Swiss who emigrated to America in 1939, after the publication of a paper on continuous selections of a set valued mappings in 1956.
