Abstract: What follows has two general mathematical concepts at its foundations, namely, partially ordered sets and the function spaces LP for 1<p<∞. Partially ordered sets may be traced back to the attempted axiomatisation of propositional logic by G. Boole during the mid-nineteenth century. The work of C. S. Peirce and E. Schroder on Boolean algebras brought about the idea of a lattice whose current form is derived from G. Birkhoff's contribution [3] in the 1930's.
