Expressionism and its influences : a short film

Abstract

This dissertation and video production focuses on the implementation of theatrical principles and representations into the film medium. Using expressive qualities, rather then realistic locations, as well as applying various concepts derived from past film movements, especially those found in Film Noir and German Expressionism. The study was focused on how Theatrical principles developed during the 20th century can be adapted for film, allowing the medium to he visually expressive as well as to tell a story.
