Abstract: | The dissertation examines the adoption of Information Technology within organizational cultures. Organizations, however similar they might appear, always differ due to their culture. Hence, this study seeks to investigate whether there is a relationship between the adoption of IT and the type of organizational culture. A quantitative approach including factor analysis was employed for the purposes of the study; an online survey was distributed among members of staff of a tertiary education setting in Malta. Even though factor analysis resulted from the study, it was found that demographic variables did not impact the adoption of IT in this specific tertiary setting. Results indicate that there seems to be a positive correlation between the adoption of IT and a closed-orientation culture. Given the focus of this study within an educational setting allows for generalisations to educational tertiary settings. Other organizational cultures require similar considerations not investigated in this study. Furthermore deeper study needs to be conducted for auxiliary findings. |
