Abstract: This study focuses on the production of children's animation and is in the form of a project which aims to investigate the feasibility of producing animation in Maltese. The hypothesis is that animation productions are conditioned by financial restrictions and constraints set by television stations rather than the audience. A review of the literature explores animation development, different styles in animation, animation production, some basic principles of animation, and animation and audience. The methodologies used in the research and production sides of project are then explained, that is how the animated clip was produced, and how the data collected from the interviews with local stations' personnel regarding the feasibility of financing animation, and observations to gather feedback from children about the finished clip is then analysed. The conclusions of the study are a relative confirmation of the discrepancy between financial realities and the children's acceptance of the produced animation. The script, storyboards, and model sheets and transcripts are provided as appendices.
