dc.description.abstractThis study explores if the adverts issued by the Government of Malta promote gender equality. For this purpose, a semiotic analysis will be conducted to compare the adverts is sued in The Times of Malta across three months of the respective years 2006 and 2011. The findings reflect the conclusion regarding research method. The context of such analysis includes also the aspect whether the Government of Malta adheres to the guidelines that The National Commission for the Promotion of Equality (NCPE) published in 2009 to ensure gender equality in all forms of media.en_GB
