Albert Mayr, 1868-1924 : a legacy of pioneer work : an evaluation of Mayr's contributions to the works of later scholars

Abstract

What was this scholar from Munich doing in Malta at the turn of the century? Coming from the same country as Albert Mayr, I was curious in getting to know more about him. My tutor, Prof Bonanno, encouraged my interest and expressed a need for further research in the works of this author. I imagined that my frequent trips home, to Munich, would facilitate my research at the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek, the Ludwig Maximilians Universitat, the Bayerische Akademie der Wissenschaften and the Munich archives. This actually proved to be true and my research, at the source, turned up information and documents not available in Malta.
