Abstract: This dissertation investigates the use of hollow triangular-section flexural glass elements. Glass has a significant compressive strength, while its tensile capacity is limited by the presence of micro-cracks. To address the issue of brittle tensile failure, it is proposed to introduce tensile reinforcement (in the form of GFRP-bars). This study involves the construction of glass beam prototypes, with and without GFRP reinforcement, and testing the beams in flexure, to assess their structural behavior and performance.
