Abstract

Before introducing the reader to the contents of this dissertation I would like to explain briefly the scope of the work. The subject, namely Industrial Estates, is somewhat specialized, therefore in order to embrace ae many aspects as possible I have divided this dissertation into three sections namely: Section One - Industrial Estates In Urban and Regional Development Plans; Section Two - Pre-Project Planning for Industrial Estates; Section Three - Industrial Estates in Malta and Gozo. The first two sections deal with the general approach to industrial estate design and location, parameters and general rules, governing these two aspects. Most of this writeup was based on reports and theories by the United Nation and other world wide bodies. The third section deals with the practical approach and discusses the main industrial estates in Malta and Gozo.
