Abstract: The subject of thermal conservation is repeatedly brought to the attention of the architect. Concrete blockwork is widely used in Malta as a building material, but without any scientific evidence characteristics. The use of of its basic double-leaf thermal concrete blockwork construction in other countries offers a high standard of thermal performance, characterised by low thermal storage, transmittance. It also provides high thermal reducing problems from solar and other incidental heat gain.
