Abstract: This research addresses a specific question about children's TV and gender portrayal. I ask the question "to what extent do children's TV ads utilize gender/sex stereotypes?" The study commences by outlining the stereotypical depictions which have been outlined in major studies in children's TV ads. It also introduces a breakdown of the representations of males and females in the past and today as they are/were portrayed in TV adverts. The study concludes with an analysis of the data obtained through the completion of a quantitative research approach, using content analysis and the findings extracted from this research method.
