Abstract: Concrete was used as a construction material by the Romans. Two thousand years later, the done of the Pantheon in Rome and parts of the Appian Way still survive, an enduring testament not only to Roman workmanship, but also to the durability of concrete as a building material. Today, concrete is rated as the most important single element in the Construction Industry. Indeed the very work 'concrete' has become a synonym for solid reliability and it is today considered as an essential and basic material.
