Abstract: Throughout the Summer of 1967, a group of members of Teenagers' Din l-Art Helwa, under Mario Buhagiar's direction, carried out a detailed study of two interesting chambers in Saint Agatha's Catacombs and made sketches of a number of carved stones which used to decorate the early sixteenth century church of Saint Agatha reconstructed in 1670. This survey was carried out on the invitation of the Missionary Society of Saint Paul. The group was made up of James Evans, Joseph Vincenti, Paul Chetcuti, Emanuel Grima, Tony Buhagiar, Alfred Quintano, Joseph Carabott, Joseph Vella, David Schembri, Emmanuel Schembri, Mary Grace Muscat, Ethel Pickard, Claire Williams, Johanne Nicholas, Mariann Bartolo, Daphne Cefai, Elda Buhagiar and Myriam and Vivianne Spiteri. The boys headed by James Evans were mostly responsible for the survey of the Catacombs and the drawing of plans while the girls were responsible for sketching.
