Abstract: The aims and purposes of this dissertation are to research and study architectural trends in Malta in the mid-twentieth century and to look at how the political situations of the time affected the architectural output in many architects' search for an architecture of national identity. It identifies the major protagonists of twentieth century architecture and discuss their keyworks.
