Abstract: This dissertation deals with the financial viability of running Hagar Qim and Mnajdra pre-historic temples on a self-financing basis. The proposed project would relief the government from financing the temples, while also giving the possibility of having an up to standard archaeological park. For this purpose, the first part of the study briefly outlines the history and describes the temples and their present situation. The dissertation proposes a project for the temples consisting mainly of the visitors’ centre and protective shelters. The study gives an indication of the capital expenditure involved in setting up the project. The research was carried out by distributing questionnaires among tourists and the general public. This was done in order to find out whether the proposed | project is good, to estimate the number of visitors and to calculate the average expenditure visitors are likely to spend at the visitors’ centre. The study ends by matching the operating revenue with the expenditure resulting in a successful long term venture.
