Abstract: As promised in the August lssue, the December Issue is being devoted to the 1st Malta Queen Victoria Definitive Issued on the 1st January 1885, a date which commemorates the Centenary of our Post Office, as it was one hundred years ago on the 1st January 1885, that the General Post Office was transferred from Imperial Control to Local Control. Prior to this date British Stamps were used to frank letters going overseas. In 1883 it was agreed that full administration of the Malta Post Office should be controlled internally, and so it was considered appropriate that once this became a fact the Malta Post Office should have its own Definitive Issue.
