Customs clearance in Malta : socio-economic aspects

Abstract

This paper examines the socio-economic aspects of customs clearance in Malta by analysing briefly the technical factors of customs clearance with special reference to their economic implications. The importance of efficiency comes to the fore in any economic activity, and this is no less true with a Government Department. In fact, many noted economists emphasise the importance of an efficient administrative and fiscal system in the development process of any developing country. In that respect, too, the Malta Customs faces new demands now that Malta is well on its way to industrialization.
