Non-government organisations as welfare services providers in Malta

Abstract

This dissertation analyses the role Maltese non-government organisations have in the provision of welfare services. Undoubtedly, the state will play a pivotal role in this assessment of welfare service provisions by NGOs. This complementarity is accounted for in the analysis. Essentially, the contribution of NGOs towards the welfare of disabled persons is strikingly evident in the Maltese Islands. Their future role is guaranteed but may have to be redefined. This dissertation seeks such a redefinition by examining the core cost composition of selected NGOs. Subsequently it basis some recommendations on these findings.
