Abstract

Towards the Re-structuring of the New, International, Economic Order is a paper which categorically looks at the world today in an attempt to understand, recall, recognise and reconstruct aspects of the current reality that surrounds us. The mammoth dimensions of such a task are beyond belief - this document has therefore attempted to bring several of the more crucial areas of interest to light in an attempt to better understand the world around us. The document does not focus exclusively, as the title may suggest, on the New, International, Economic Order (NIEO). In fact, as one goes through the accompanying few pages, one will see that the re-structuring of the NIEO, building a better tomorrow, securing a common future, or whatever else we may choose to call it, all boil down to one thing. We are in a dire situation, with no-one to blame except ourselves and our predecessors, which must be overhauled.

In a step-by-step approach, the document will start off by first ensuring that there is a clear understanding of where it is that we have come from down history lane. Chapter II will then present the present situation fairly and squarely before us, and next we will move on to examine the obstacles that are part of our currently reality. This approach is crucial to ensure that when we look forward it is done so realistically and constructively.
