Abstract: The aim of this research is to explore in depth the lived experience of mothers who have gone through postpartum depression at least three years after giving birth to their baby. The literature highlights the dynamics of postpartum depression. It appears that psychosocial factors are dominant in curing postpartum depression. Interpretative phenomenological analysis was used as methodology since its objective is to examine subjective experiences and making sense of the individual's world. In this study interviews were conducted to six mothers who went through this condition. The interviews yielded three master themes: Reason for onset of postpartum depression; lack of information; and experiencing intense emotions. It seems that the manifestation of postpartum depression affects mothers in a unique way. Limitations of the study and recommendations for future research studies are included.
