Abstract: | The Sustainable Development Centre is located within the Xrobb 1-Ghagin Nature Park at Xrobb 1-Ghagin, Malta. The aim of the project is to rehabilitate an existing complex ofbuildings used for other functions over the years, and to transform the buildings into a Sustainable Development Centre, within the Nature Park. The centre is intended to accomodate a new scientific anded ucational facility. The sustainable rehabilitation strategy of the buildings is based on a comprehensive approach, addressing various aspects including the architectural value of the buildings and the functional requirements, structural interventions and repair of the structures, the conservation of resources, water conservation, waste water recycling and waste management, services, the inclusion of energy efficiency measures and alternative and renewable energy sources. |
