Abstract: Two of Malta's most urgent problems are those of increasing foreign exchange receipts and of creating more employment, and hence a somewhat better income distribution. The crucial point is which manufactured goods should be produced for pushing up both the exports and the employment they create. This dissertation is a study of North Africa as an export market for Malta. It tries to determine whether the North African market is a major market for all of Malta's exports, after the demographic features of the market have been illustrated, the demand has been measured, and the environmental factors have been considered. Finally, a marketing strategy, that will help Malta to improve its performance in the North African market, is suggested.
