Abstract: This dissertation aims to present a clear picture of the main reasons that are impeding the majority of the Maltese elderly population from using digital banking services, such as ATMs, Internet Banking and Mobile Banking to conduct their banking. It is important that banks understand the needs of the elderly since it is expected that the global population is expected to continue to rise while at the same time, banks in general are shifting from traditional banking to electronic banking. As we are still in the COVID19 pandemic, banks are reacting to this situation by closing some of their branches. It is important that the elderly be educated to use these digital banking services for their benefit so that they would not need to constantly go to banks, which for some might be a problem due to health reasons. It is important that as a society we respect the elderly and that we make sure that they are not excluded or see them as a burden to society. Therefore, banks should do their own part so that the elderly conduct their banking needs from their comfort and look upon these digital banking services and technology in general as complementary to banks and not see them as a disruption to their lives.
