Abstract: The aim of this study is to pinpoint and evaluate the basic differences which exist between the EC's and the local dairy sector. Dairy farming is a complex activity and owing to its important product it cannot be taken in isolation from aspects of distribution and marketing of dairy products. The dissertation is divided into two sections. Part one deals with the theoretical aspect of the EC and the local dairy sector. Part two concerns the evaluation of the local dairy sector on entering the EC. The study is not an exhaustive one and it may have certain limitations namely that conditions for entering the EC will be known only on applying to become members. It is meant to be a preliminary study to those who have the initiative to continue and expand on the local dairy .sector's economic implications on entering the EC.
