The principal aim of this study is to explore the dual earner situation and to highlight any differences in the way these families function. In conducting this study I will delve into the experience of a number of dual earner couples pertaining to different working classes and I will explore how they are contending with the difficulties and pressures in order to reconcile work-related expectations with family and childrearing responsibilities. In my study I also include two traditional families to delineate any changes that are taking place in the way families are sharing their responsibilities. During my study I will give an overview of how family friendly measures can contribute to facilitate family and work commitments and I will give examples from the local scene, from the public and private sectors. In order to provide an overseas perspective I will compare and contrast the local situation with that of three different countries namely Denmark, United Kingdom and France.en_GB
