Abstract: This research study aims to look at adolescents aged 15/16 to investigate their encounters with peers and the extent to which peer pressure in relation to alcohol, cigarettes and drug use is positive or negative. The empirical component of this study is based on a quantitative approach, and used the survey method where through questionnaires, adolescents were asked for their perceptions about the extent to which peer relationships influence their choices to engage or not to engage in alcohol, cigarette smoking and drug use. It was found that although substance use is common amongst Gozitan adolescents, adolescents do not feel that they are being pressured by their friends to use alcohol, cigarettes and/or drugs. This study should assist the reader to gain a deeper awareness of factors contributing to peer pressure related to substance use.
