dc.description.abstract | Malta has always had a very traditional view of religion, even if it is laced with many superstitious beliefs that are part of local folklore. Yet few have investigated interests in alternative believes in Malta, especially from a psychological perspective. This study aims to answer this question: What is the Wiccan experience in Malta? Recently Wicca has emerged in the public domain as an alternative religion drawing many followers, even in Malta. This research looks into the experience of Wicca in Malta by exploring the basic ideas, themes and beliefs held by some practitioners. Data was gathered by personal interview and analysed through the phenomenological method. The results show that the experience of Wicca is part of a journey to discover a deeper meaning in life and re-establish a first hand religious experience by turning back to nature and its mysteries. | en_GB |
