Abstract: | Fl-1814 ġew fi tmiemhom il-Gwerer Napoljoniċi u, permezz tat-Trattat ta' Pariġi ffirmat f' Mejju tal-istess sena, Malta għaddiet formalment f'idejn il-Gran Brittanja. Wara l-kampanja militari qasira ta' Waterloo fl-1815 li fissret it-telfa finali ta' Franza u Napuljun, il-Kungress ta' Vjenna fl-20 ta' Novembru 1815 irratifika l-fatt li Malta issa kienet parti mill-Imperu Britanniku. Ma nistgħux ngħidu li dawn is-snin kienu żmien feliċi għall-gżejjer Maltin minħabba l-istraġi li ħalliet warajha l-imxija tal-pesta tal-1813-14, bir-riżultat ta' staġnar ekonomiku kbir u dipressjoni sostnuta fil-pajjiż kollu.
