Abstract: Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) alters the lives of both sufferers and family members living with them. In order to study the effects that OCD has on family members a qualitative approach was utilised in order to understand the lived experiences of family members of OCD sufferers. The sample consisted of 6 relative (1 wife, 2 mothers and 3 sisters) of OCD sufferers. Thematic analysis was used to analyse the data obtained through semi-structured interviews. From the results, one could deduce that sufferers do not endure the condition in isolation. Living with an OCD sufferer was perceived by participants to affect family dynamics, and cause family members great suffering. Stigma was also a prominent theme that emerged from the data
