Abstract: Drug addiction, unfortunately is a growing problem in our society. It tends to be very difficult for people to stop using drugs once they have started. Thinking about this, I realized that there must be factors affecting why certain people stop and remain clean and why certain people cannot stop their addiction. This qualitative study aims to explore the psychological thoughts and experiences of youths who are ex-drug addicts and what the people who work with drug addicts in their recovery treatment process feel and believe are the real factors which truly make a difference in helping people stop their drug addiction. The data in this study is obtained by interviewing four youth ex-drug addicts and four workers at a Drug Recovery Agency. By means of conducting these interviews, very important themes have emerged and the main factors which really make a difference for the effective recovery of youth who undergo drug problems, were identified.
