Abstract: The aim of this study is to explore how archetypes in fairytales influence the lives of undergraduate psychology students. Using a qualitative approach, a one-off focus group was conducted with five male and five female participants all aged between 18 and 26 and this was analysed using thematic analysis. This research indicated that the archetypes found in fairy tales do influence different aspects of the lives of undergraduate psychology students. The most useful result that emerged from this study is an awareness of how the different archetypes in fairy tales influence the thoughts, beliefs and practices of those who read them as children.
