Abstract: ▪ Dual frame configurations: realised by a combination of a rigid subsystem (e.g. eccentrically braced frame EBF) and a flexible subsystem (e.g. moment frame MRF), represent a convenient arrangement
▪ Dual steel: in order to concentrate the damage in the rigid subsystem (ex. links of EBF), the dissipative members are fabricated from steel with lower yield strength in comparison with rest of the structure.
▪ If dissipative members are realised to be removable following an earthquake, the repair costs and time of interruption of building use can be reduced
▪ Seismic performance is evaluated using non-linear incremental analysis
