Abstract: This study focuses on children's use of language in the nursery school with particular reference to pre-school children's extent of vocabulary, code-switching usage and other communicative skills which pre-school children acquire during their early schooling years. The subjects of this study were of both genders and of different age groups with ages ranging from three years old to five years old. The researcher collected the data through recording children's spontaneous speech at the nursery school and then analysing the recordings and observations which were conducted in a local nursery school. The analysis of this study showed that the language development of the children observed is parallel to the established norms which were presented in the first two chapters of this dissertation.
