Abstract: The idea of writing a dissertation on a theme such as 'The Family In the Rehabilitation of Drug Dependents' emerged from my social work course practical placement with drug dependents and their families. I had opted to do field work with this category of people for the reason that rehabilitation of drug dependents is one of the areas in which I share responsibility for the formulation of a family - focused social policy. Such first hand experience gave me an opportunity to. learn a great deal about the plight and the needs of this client group. The three cases mentioned below are indicative of some of the various complex situations in which these families find themselves.
