Abstract: ▪ Prediction of fire resistance of a structure follows three general steps: evaluation of fire exposure condition (fire dynamics), calculation of structural temperatures under fire exposure (heat transfer analysis), determination of structural resistance at elevated temperatures (structural analysis). Heat transfer analysis links fire dynamics with structural analysis.
▪ Structural temperatures may be obtained by many means, including fire tests, look up tables or graphs or calculations. Look up tables or graphs are based on limited fire tests or calculations. Their application ranges are limited. This technical sheet gives information on heat transfer analysis by calculations.
