Abstract: This dissertation deals with Education in Prison. It attempts to bring out the importance of correctional education both for the inmates and for society at large. This research is important because the researcher's hypothesises is that correctional education in Corradino Correctional Facility is not sufficiently good and in fact it has to be improved. Through the interviews conducted, this hypothesis has been confirmed. This is because although the sample used for this dissertation was a relatively small one, and the interviewees differed on certain aspects, the collective idea was that improvement in the educational establishment is required. This is not because the teachers working there are not good trainers, rather it is because the Government, the prison authorities and the prison staff do not support the school and do not invest in it. Both in the literature review and also in the analysis and discussion of findings, it was evident that correctional education is beneficial both to the inmates and society, since through it, inmates leave prison with something they did not have before and society gets back people who have acquired some knowledge that will eventually help them to be law abiding citizens.
