| Abstract: | This research delves deep into the public hospitalization system in Gozo between 1860 and 1914. It seeks to examine the Charitable Institutions in Gozo namely of the Civil Hospital, the Ospizio and the Hospital of Contagious Disease. This research also carries out a quantitative analysis of the patients, the day to day running, the administration and the infrastructure of the aforementioned hospitals. A detailed background is given which helps place the hospitalization system of 1860 in its historical context. |
