Abstract: As well as it fits as unwanted sound, noise has a deeper connection with societal and personal experiences. This dissertation focuses on elucidating the deeper connections from an artistic point of view, by means of research and project testing on the subject matter. The contextual research and the various project testing phases conducted, are expressed in the final project which takes the form of an interactive installation. The final project consists of five different cone speakers suspended by metal chains in a dedicated space. The audience could move through the installation and interact with the sounds being played through the speakers, which provide the individual with a unique aural experience. The approach taken creates an artistic representation of the findings of this dissertation. While interacting with the installation, the audience is encouraged to focus on the nature of the sounds as a reflection of the self.
