Abstract: Animators are able to create believable body language in their characters and through various film techniques, can help the audience feel different emotions throughout their films. Through this dissertation I investigated non-facial and non-verbal body language in stop-motion animation. By simplifying the set and character design, the focus was on the relation between the frame and the stop motion armature. Research into pre-existing studies and interviews, as well as two surveys were conducted in order to aid in the process which resulted in six animated clips, each showcasing a different emotion.
