Evarist Bartolo graduated from the University of Malta in 1975 with a B.A.(Hons) degree in English Literature. In 1984 he was awarded a scholarship for a diploma course in journalism at Stanford University. He then read for a Master’s in Education at the University of Cardiff which he completed in 1986.
Description: A series of programmes focusing on the human and literary adventure of Juann Mamo. Author and cultural activist, Juann Mamo was born in 1886, and died relatively young and in mysterious circumstances in 1941. The programmes explore, among other things, his relations with British colonialism, Manuel Dimech and the Left; Maltese emigration in the beginning of the 20th century and how it affected those that left and those that stayed behind; the life that he wanted to live and his frequently controversial writings in the newspapers.
