Abstract: | This dissertation project explores how digital visual elements taken from social media networks can be transferred to a printed publication to create a contemporary experience of Maltese poetry. This was carried out through the use of various illustrations, bright colour schemes, as well as laser and screen printing. During the design phase of this publication, colour meanings and symbolism were researched to create colour schemes based on moods and feelings, which were then matched to corresponding social media. The publication consists of six poems on the theme of nature and the environment, by six different Maltese poets. The design layouts of each were inspired by different social media applications. The final outcome of the project demonstrates how a poetry book can be designed in a dynamic way that appeals to a contemporary audience. |
