dc.description.abstract | Extensive research has been done within the narrative environment of video games, much of which focuses on how primary characters or even characters in general convey their characteristics, ideals, desires and more to the player. Yet little research has been done in relation to other characters that are not the main focus yet somehow still leave an effect one way or another on the player. The argument which this dissertation will examine is where video game characters are examined including characters that are predetermined by the video game itself with voice lines and story, or are randomly generated characters with basic or no background. While emphasizing the point that randomly generated characters can be given characterisation either through the player’s interactions with the character or through interactions that are supported with in-game features. | en_GB |
